Open House: Music and Mindful Listening – with Awareness! (Part 2)
With Sky Lake Community
June 2, 2025
Joanna Rotté holds an interactive conversation with world-class musician Steve Gorn about how we may learn to listen with awareness, more like a musician listens; how deeper listening can enrich our meditation practice; and how music as a contemplative art may rise to the level of dharma or sacred art.
Event may include music-making and audience participation! All are welcome.
Steve Gorn, whose flute-playing is said to ‘re-align the cells,’ is featured on the Grammy-winning recording Miho: Journey to the Mountain with the Paul Winter Consort as well as in the Academy Award-winning documentary film Born into Brothels. At concerts and festivals around the world, he’s performed Indian classical music and new American music on the bansuri bamboo flute, soprano saxophone, and clarinet. A student since 1977 of the late Chogyam Trungpa, Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, Steve continues to explore the intersection of art and dharma teachings through playing music.
Event is free. Participants are invited to donate any amount to Sky Lake.
