Open House - 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama: One man’s journey through the northern Himalayas

A screening of an 85-minute film featuring a private interview with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. How do you reconcile a commitment to non-violence when faced with violence? This is one of the ten questions that world traveler, cultural explorer, and filmmaker Rick Ray humbly poses in his revelatory documentary, 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama. The film gives us the wit and wisdom of an extraordinary spiritual leader interspersed with scenes from Ray’s own intrepid travels across northern India. In essence, the filmmaker raises concerns – that the Dalai Lama addresses — about how to live in our complex and complicated world. The film contains rare historical footage as well as scenes supplied by individuals who filmed inside Tibet with hidden cameras at great personal risk.

Rick Ray served the film, 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama, as cinematographer, writer, and director. He has produced twelve documentary films on regions as diverse as Bali, Borneo, Ethiopia, Iceland, Israel, Lebanon, and Syria, including the highly regarded The Soul of India.
